Kindle passes Sony
Although Sony has been leading in this poll area I see that today all Kindles have passed all Sonys. Kind of back and forth to some extent.
Looks like almost everyone has settled on Kindle, Sony, iRex or Hanlin. Noone else is really even in the running. I wonder how similar these polls would be in Europe where some of these others are more popular.
I got my Sony yesterday after watching the poll here about what people liked and actually purchased. Wouldn't you know it, today Kindle is ahead.
Kindle
A friend gave me a Kindle 1 when they went up to the newest Sony last week. I found this page while looking for information on the Kindle (don't have the instuction manual). I like it so far. I read a lot of mysteries and it is nice to have them handy or share some favorite part with someone and be able to look it up or once you think you know who did it you can search back for an important clue and the like. I like it. Don't know that I would have purchased one myself as you can get a lot of books for that price but I am also a lot more likely to buy more books since they are much cheaper this way.
beBook
Although only one vote so far (mine) beBook is very popular here in Europe. Same thing with Hanlin - both are based in Europe and popular here even if not in the States.
Hmmmmm
People want to know about Kindle but buy Sony? I have a Sony also but it was mainly because I could get it at the local Books A Million and if I didn't like it I knew there would be no problem with a return. Not to mention you can touch it and try it right there in the store.
Don't know much about Kindle but I've been happy with my Sony and it appears that it supports more platforms than Kindle right out of the box. Interesting that people's buying patterns are different from the questions they are asking.
Agree
That is what I was thinking when I looked at the results so far. Kindle is out advertising and everyone knows it by name but Sony is what they are buying. Or at least it is what the people who follow this site bought.
Looks to me like the technically oriented people want the Sony and maybe the romance fiction readers might want Kindle. Better supply of that trash reading from Amazon. I bought Sony because I could test it in the store also. Then I went to my favorite tech book publishers and found that more of them did pdf than anything else so I went with Sony. Maybe the new Kindle will make me switch, I hear it has some useful annotation features, but the old one was beat out by Sony all the way.
